Tiger Information Time Capsule Form (click here). Each Tiger Den is to submit a time capsule of the boys in their Den. Please include the completed form (or something similar for each boy), a picture of each boy, a group picture of your Den, and if you want, some small trinkets or mementos the boys want to add. Place all in a coffee can (or similar container) decorated and labeled with your Den information. Your new Tiger Scouts should earn the Bobcat badge for the October Pack Meeting. The requirements are listed in the Tiger Handbook. We do not expect them to have memorized the Cub Scout Promise or the Law of the Pack but they should be able to say it in a group situation. For the Tiger Badge: You must complete the 5 Achievements listed in the Tiger Handbook by the end of January. Each achievement has 3 parts: a family activity, a trip (called go see it), and a den activity. So, there are 15 things to complete from September to January. 5 are done at home with the family and the other 10 are done as a den.
We recommend 2 Den meetings a month. Tiger year the parents are required to attend the meeting with their son. Schedule the 10 Achievement activities to be done in your meetings between now and January. Here is a Suggested Meeting Plan to accomplish the 10 Achievement parts as a Den: Meeting 1: Make a scrapbook -- have each child bring pictures about himself to the first meeting. Have each parent work with their child to create a scrapbook page about the child. Either send home the page with the child or keep it to begin a Den scrapbook. Achievement#1D Meeting 2: Go on a hike in Mahlon Dickerson with your Den. Saffins Pond on Weldon Road has easy trails to walk on that will work with a group. Also at this meeting, bring crayons and paper to have the boys do a leaf rubbing for another Achievement. Achievement #5D & G Meeting 3: Schedule ahead of time to take the Den and parents to a Radio Station. Two relatively close are: WGHT 1500AM in Pompton Lakes (1 traffic light past the Home Depot/Target on Rt. 23) and William Patterson's College Station WPSC 88.7FM. OR click here for a link to other New Jersey stations. Achievement #4G Meeting 4: Play the Telephone game for Achievement #4D, do the Pledge of Allegiance or a flag ceremony for Achievement #2D and introduce the rules for the sporting event you are taking the Den to go see. Meeting 5: Take the Den to a high school sporting event after discussing the rules of the game. Achievement #3G Meeting 6: Do Achievement #3D Food Pyramid. Meeting 7: Visit Jefferson's Police Station -- call and schedule the visit ahead of time. Achievement #2G Meeting 8: Take the Den to the Jefferson Museum during Christmas in the Village in December. Or go visit another historical site. Achievement #1G
